This species is said to differ from the closely related
Adonis annua L. by having the sepals tightened to the back
of the corolla. As it can be seen from the photographs set from
Stana de Mures, Alba county below, this is not true and can lead to
confusions. The scarlet color and form of the petals however differs
in this species from the deep dark red and shorter petals of
Adonis annua L. which is also later in concerning the
flowering period. See this here

the achenes have two teeth on the ventral side in Adonis
aestivalis and no teeth in Adonis annua.
